Refiner’s
Fire . . .
As we
begin selecting Deacons for the upcoming rotation, I hope you’ll consider the
qualities that make a servant of Christ.
You’ll find these listed on the Nomination Ballot. According to 1 Timothy
3 they are as follows: Deacons should be
serious, honest, sober, and unselfish.
They should have a good reputation and good judgment. They should be responsible and Christian in
their relationships especially with their children. They should serve well, gaining a good
reputation for themselves and for the sake of Christ. Acts 6 says these individuals should be full
of the Holy Spirit and wisdom; and the congregation is to pray for them.
That’s quite a list and yet as Christians we are all called to live our
lives this way. Leaders in the church or
not, God desires us to be leaders in the community at large by demonstrating a
worthy lifestyle honoring Him.
Pray
for the deacon selections you believe God is leading you to make. Pray for them and the church that we may all
seek to minister in His name.
